In this workshop we use an approach that strengthens the inner wisdom of our body so that internal awareness of hunger and satisfaction can be balanced with external direction such as nutritional recommendations. We come to recognize that the philosophy around modern dieting often teaches us to over-ride or suppress the healthy cues our body sends us regarding taste,hunger and satiety. Mindfulness and Yoga practices can provide us with an authentic path back to familiarity with our senses and the wisdom our body communicates if we listen.
Our philosophy also celebrates diversity in body types and size acceptance, embracing ideas that have come from the "Health at Every Size" Movement. You can also see the Center for Mindful Eating as a reference for the research base for this approach. We have also embraced the work and practices of Geneen Roth and others in the Intuitive Eating field as we have evolved over the past 20 years.
Through mindfulness based practices and experiential activities we explore our relationship to food, eating, our bodies and movement. We will discover areas of our lives and choices that may be limiting us from a richer experience with eating and moving, and find ways to move into greater balance, peace and nourishment with body mind and spirit.
